Meet Robert
Robert has been a professional working theatre artists for decades. He studied acting and musical theatre at Roosevelt University and at Weber State University as well as Performing Arts and Cultural Justice at Lake Forest College. His extensive and successful career as an actor, living in New York City, offered him the opportunity to work closely with artists at the top of their fields. Some of his mentors include John Caird, Jason Moore, Barlett Sher, and Cameron Mackintosh. As an actor, Robert played starring roles on Broadway, Off-Broadway, on National Tours, and at Carnegie Hall. Some of those credits include: Les Miserables (Inspector Javert), Jekyll & Hyde (Jekyll/Hyde), Falsettos (Whizzer), Assassins (John Wilkes Booth), South Pacific (Emile de Becque), Brigadoon (Tommy Albright), Guys and Dolls (Sky Masterson), Forever Plaid (Smudge), A Little Night Music (Carl-Magnus), Oklahoma! (Jud Fry), and Damn Yankees! (Joe Hardy). While performing, Robert discovered his love for directing and storytelling as well and his passion for teaching young and emerging talent. Robert has taught master classes in theatre, acting, and musical theatre for several universities, private studios, and nationally recognized high school theatre programs. While in New York City, Robert taught several private voice/coaching students. He coached a large number of those students to successfully booking Broadway shows. He has written and directed revues and original musicals for workshops in NYC, for middle schools and for elementary schools from New York to Portland. Robert is also an award-winning director whose works has been seen from coast to coast. He has directed, choreographed, and music directed, at such places as Broadway Rose Theatre Company, Surflight Theater, Upstate Players, Columbia Actors’ Rep, Goodspeed Opera House, Utah Musical Theatre, and Musical Theatre Works in NYC. His professional directing credits include: West Side Story, Hello, Dolly!, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Into the Woods, Les Miserables, The Fantasticks, Kiss Me Kate, Annie, Olympus on My Mind, Nunsense, Marry Me a Little, Pirates of Penzance, Barnum, How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying, Grease, No Exit, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to name a few.
